Marcie Soco

I graduated my Bachelors degree in Nursing in Silliman University in Dumaguete City with my nursing career spanning more than two decades. I am a proud Cebuano myself where my family hailed from Mandaue City.

I started my career as a nurse  working in the Intensive Care Unit of Metro Cebu Community Hospital for 5 years before I left our country to work abroad . I landed a job in Abu Dhabi UAE as an emergency nurse in the Medical Services for almost 4 years.

I had the opportunity to work in UK after a rigid screening in UAE and landed  to work in Taunton Somerset. Now, been here for 21 years working as a Sister and Team Leader in the Intensive Therapy Unit and the Paediatric Lead in charge of the In-House Paediatric Training.

Proud to say I am the very first Filipino who won the MAFTA award for International Colleague of the Year in 2017.

I am one of the core members of the BAME multicultural network in our Hospital and a staunch supporter for the LGBTQ rights and privileges. I believe in inclusion, equality and diversity.

My past time is hosting events and performing though i already stopped doing it but still support events. Used to perform in Way Out Club in London and host the Lip Gloss Event in Birmingham. These past experiences molded me for who I am as a person.

Currently I am the Chairman/President of PINAS (Philippine International Neighbourhood Association in Somerset) which is duly recognised Filipino organisation in Taunton Somerset.
