PNA UK Core Committee Member gains the Overseas Nurse of the Year Award

19 November 2021, London, United Kingdom. It is with honor and pride to announce that PNA UK Core Committee member April Ann Montoya has been named the Overseas Nurse of the Year at the  Nursing Times Workforce Awards.

 

Ms. Montoya who works as an ED staff nurse at the Hull University Teaching Hospital NHS is also the Deputy Chair of the BAME Staff Network. Having arrived only in 2019, Ms. Montoya has already assisted the Trust in its educational and induction needs for its Internationally Recruited Nurses.

 

Her natural leaderships have also been shared with the Philippine Nurses Association of United Kingdom (PNA UK) of which she is a valued core committee member and a PNA UK Champion in the region.

Even prior to arriving in the UK and while in the Middle East, Ms. Montoya has already been an active nurse leader and has demonstrated her leadership qualities in many ways. Her nomination highlighted the “positive impact she has made to those she worked with, her fellow IEN and to the trust” which showed her natural leadership abilities.

 

Ms. Montoya is a valued member of the PNA UK Core Committee and shares her expertise in the various projects undertaken by the professional Association. In addition, she also volunteers her free time as a  PNA UK Champion in the region assisting and dispensing the association’s extended pastoral care package to newly arrived Philippine Nurses.
